The drama continues with the batteries. On Thursday they were shipped overnight from Canada. It is now Saturday morning and we don't have batteries for the wedding today. I called down to Cord Camera and they are going to loan us the batteries. The problem is that Cord is downtown and of course today is a home game. Traffic is going to be aweful! When they say overnight, why isn't it overnight?? So frustrating!!! And the rain? Is it going to go away? Our wedding is outside at Brookside Country Club.

Our trip to Canada this past weekend was amazing. On Thursday we left in the morning with the goal of getting at least to Barrie, Canada. Traveling always takes a little longer with a baby. We took both kids and Dave's parents. They were helping us watch the kids while we shot. Our first stop came 2 miles from the house at Tim Horton's. Stop two, gas an hour away. As you can see our progress was slow. When we got to Buffalo, NY, we took the route of the Rainbow Bridge to get into Canada so that we could get a peak of the falls. We ended up driving around Niagara for an hour and a half just looking at all the attractions. We arrived in Barrie around 10:00 and had a hard time finding a hotel with vacancies.
On Friday morning we left early and headed up to our destination. We arrived in Pointe Au Baril Canada, population around 200, and took a boat ride to the island where the wedding would be held. We made note of all the great shooting places and then had lunch at the little grill. Jen and Ilan, the bride and groom, were busy working on all the decorations. She had the cutest table settings and a really great idea. She gave a handful of friends color swatched and the theme for the wedding along with a budget and had each person design their own table. It looked amazing! I would recommend it! Each table matched perfectly and yet had it's own flair. The colors were chocolate brown with pink and green accents.
After the tour of the island we went to check in at the hotel. After a brief rest, we headed back to the boat and to Ilan's cottage on the Georgian Bay. It was a 15 minute boat ride. At the cottage we had a great time at the rehearsal dinner.
Saturday morning we were up early and headed over to shoot at noon. The ceremony was on the main land in a very cute little church, Florence Church. The church was like one of the churches that you would see a movie star get married in. It sat on the water and even had it's own little dock. (If you needed to use the restroom, you got to use the little outhouse!) The ceremony was awesome. It was very intimate and personal! After the ceremony we started rolling with photos while the guests were shuttled over to the island by boat. We shot pictures at every place possible, the little lighthouse, the marina, the church, the dock, and more. The four of us took the last shuttle over and as we approached the island, it began to rain! What!!! That is where we were going to do all the family pix and more pix of the bride and groom. We made do and got what we could. Later in the reception Jen and Ilan decided to brave the rain to do photos without an umbrella. It was definitely worth it!
Dinner at Ojibway Island was amazing, cedar plank salmon and prime rib. Yummm!!! After dinner the band began playing and the dancing began. It was a super fun crowd!
The boat ride home was a little cold and wet but we made it in one piece. The next day we were off and rolling to the Falls. I will write more about that later. We will also be posting some more pix from the wedding on the site.
Today I was finishing up some appointments and then flying out of the house for two engagement shoots. As I opened the camera bag I realized I had done something totally stupid. I was something totally out of character for me. I am normally totally organized and not scatter brained at all. I went to put my camera together and realized that I had left all the batteries and chargers in CANADA!!! Ah!!!!!!!!!!!!! How could that have happened? As soon as I noticed they weren't there, I knew exactly where they were, beside the bed in the hotel in Parry Sound, Canada. We had put the batteries on the charger after the wedding on Saturday just in case we needed them up at Niagara Falls. With everything going on when we were checking out, we just forgot them there. And when we went to the Falls we used our third camera that uses regular batteries so we didn't even notice. I called the hotel right away and they do have the batteries and chargers. I had to have them shipped international overnight because we have two weddings this weekend. International overnight, YIKES!!! It is going to cost a fortune. But we have no other choice, they are too expensive to buy more! I doubt this will ever happen again!
I will post more later today about our wedding up there!

I am posting a quick one this time because we are getting ready to roll out of the hotel. We finished the wedding up in Canada and now are at Niagara Falls for the next couple of days. I will post some pictures from the wedding later today and maybe even pix from the falls. We have a falls view room and it is amazing! I think the guys are also in heaven because the Miss Canada contestants are staying here at the Hilton this week!
