Travel update

It is now 1:19pm. We were originally suppose to start shooting at 1:30. This morning we moved the time to 3:00pm to allow for travel. We are still stuck in the driveway. Yes, that's right. Phase one: getting out of the driveway was unsuccessful. In all our years of shooting, we have never not been able to get to a wedding due to weather conditions or for any reason at all! The groom's brother, DJ, called us and told us not to even try coming. There was also a large accident on Interstate 70, backing up traffic for miles. So even if we could get out of the driveway, we would have to take back roads the rest of the way. So here we are, back at home in our pj's watching a little basketball. Savannah and Josh are going to have the ceremony today but have postponed the reception and all photos until tomorrow. Looks like Dave better get the snow blower going because tomorrow we need to get out and on our way to Dayton. Here is a photo of the SUV stuck in the driveway. As you can see, we didn't get very far at all! The drifts in some places were 3 feet!

Snow travels

If you are reading this blog on Saturday, please follow the blog over the day as we will be updating the report on our travels to Dayton for a wedding. This is the first time in our wedding photography careers that we have had to travel through blizzard like conditions to get to a wedding. Now I love snow, but to have to travel in snow is not that fun. Here is a picture from our back door this morning. Visibility is very low!

Here are the different phases of our travels today:

Phase 1: getting out of the driveway. We have drifts measuing 3 feet!

Phase 2: getting off of Warner Rd. It is never plowed until very last.

Phase 3: getting the kids to Yaya and Papa's house

Phase 4: making it to the highway

Phase 5: getting to the church

Phase 6: getting to the reception

Phase 7: getting home

Stayed tuned for our journeys through the blizzard. Hour by hour updates to come.

Sick of being sick

Do you ever get sick of being sick? After four days of a fever, I finally took Brooklyn to the doctor today. I talked to the doctor over the phone and she thought it might be strep, so I took her in to be tested. And yes, it was! She had a cold for two weeks and then the fever started and finally the rash. I finally broke down and said enough is enough. She is now on antibiotics. Hopefully we are on our way out of the woods. Dave and I also had a cold and Isaac was down with an ear infection. When it rains it pours! Say a prayer that we all get better.

Our new baby

We got our new baby in last week. That is our new photobooth. It is a beauty! It was designed by an engineer from Honda who is to put it simply, a genius. Thanks Charlie. The booth folds down into a small box but at full size is 7 feet by 6 feet by 5 feet. We are able to set it up in under 20 minutes. Just amazing! We also got a new printer that prints the strips or 4x6's in 10 seconds! Talk about cutting down the time, we went from 1 minute to 10 seconds! The photobooth company has already been a huge success. We have booked 40 events in 8 weeks. Can't complain about that. Check out the new booth!
