Easter Sunday is always a special holiday for our family. It's a time for us to celebrate what Christianity is all about, the rising of Jesus. This year we tried to teach Brooklyn the meaning of Easter and then also let her have fun with her Easter basket. She had a lot of fun finding the basket (we always hide it) and then also with the Easter egg hunt. Isaac on the other hand was not having a great day. He has been sick for about a week and could hardly stay awake without crying, as you can see in his Easter outfit picture. Poor little guy!

This past week Dave, I and the kids traveled to Kansas to welcome a new addition to our extended family, Oliver Jacob Smith. My brother and his wife Kendall gave birth on Friday, March 30th. Little Oliver weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long. He is so cute!

Because my brother is a big Chicago Cubs fan, we threw a Cub's themed shower for them. The food consisted of Chicago style dogs, nachos, pretzels, bottled sodas, and snacks from the vendor (our niece Abi). It was a hit!
The trip was a lot of fun but did have it's moments of frustration. The trip out was supposed to be 3.5 hours and turned out to be 9 hours. Our flight was cancelled into Chicago and we were rerouted into Dallas. Once we arrived into Dallas, the airport closed because of weather. We ended up getting into Kansas at 11:00pm. On arrival we picked up our luggage which was soaked all the way through. They must have left it out during the storm. AHHHHH!!!
Nevertheless, we are back in one piece and trying to get everyone back on schedule before our next trip in May to California. I love vacations but I also love getting back home!
