Hitting the Big City

What a whirlwind of a trip. I don't think we slept more than a couple of hours every night. We only had two full days to pack in everything that we wanted to see and shoot. The trip there was much easier than expected. We hit all the shuttles, trains, and cabs, just like we had expected. The trip did take about 2 hours from the Newburg Airport but it was so hassle free that we might do it that way again.
On Wednesday morning, we got up early and headed out with Michelle and Matt to shoot engagement pictures. Michelle and Matt are getting married in Columbus in May 2009 but live in NYC. It was great having them with us because they know so much about the city. I think Dave and I must have asked them a million questions. We started out shooting at a park with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. We then took a hike over the Brooklyn Bridge. That was a great experience. From there we took the subway to SoHo. Love that area! Next time I would like to spend more time there. And finally our last stop was Central Park. Here are some pix from the shoot. Thanks Michelle and Matt!

On Tuesday evening we headed over to the Waldorf Astoria to meet Karie Ide. We shot her wedding a couple of years ago. When we planned to come to the city, we knew we had to meet up with her. She is a sales manager at the hotel and knows a lot about everything. We had some cocktails, toured the hotel, saw the amazing ballroom, and chatted about all the upscale weddings that they host! Too fun! After drinks, we headed down to Little Italy to stuff ourselves with some homemade pasta. We walked it off afterwards in Time Square.
Day 2 - We were up early again trying to beat the rain for Christa's senior pictures. I asked Christa where she would like to go and she said Greenwich Village! We were off. I loved that area. So many places to shoot. We could have shot there all day. After that we headed to Canal Street for a little shopping and then back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. On Thursday night we met Matt and Natalie for dinner. Dave and I shot there wedding a couple of years ago at Miami of Ohio. Matt was formerly on American Idol and One Life to Live. Natalie was Miss Ohio 2002. What a cute couple! We had such an awesome time at dinner. Could have been one of the best dinners that I have had in a long time. Del Frisco's! Check it out! At dinner, Rudy Juliani walked through and down to the wine cellar for a private dinner. After dinner we took a brisk walk to Julliard to see the school and then checked out Matt and Natalie's apartment which is really close to the ABC studios.

Whew!!!! Sound like a lot? It was. Here are some pix of Christa. I think we might plan a Senior Pix shoot in New York this summer! How fun would that be? Anyone interested?
