From the Big Apple to the Windy City

This past weekend Dave and I and the kids made a trip to northern Indiana to visit my family, attend my niece, Brianna's birthday party, and to go to Chicago for an engagement shoot for Christie and Gerald. These two live in Chicago but are getting married in Columbus in September. A couple of months ago we attempted to shoot in Chicago after our visit to Milwaukee but our schedule got switched around and it didn't happen. Good thing it didn't because the weather this past Monday was so beautiful, 75 degrees, sunny and no wind! That's right, no wind in the windy city. We started the shoot with Christie and Gerald at the Chicago Yacht Club where Christie works. The lake was beautiful that day. From there we headed over the Millennium Park. That was actually my first time ever being to the park. I have been to Chicago tons of times but not in the years since the park was finished. I loved it. Christie and Gerald were so much fun! And of course, how could I be in Chicago by the lake and not shoot a couple of shots of the kids. Here are some images from Chicago!

I always get so bummed out when it rains on Saturday. And when it rains all day on a wedding at the Darby House in the spring when all the blossoms are in bloom, I get super bummed out. Although I was bummed out, Colleen and J made shooting on Saturday super fun. They were so laid back and fun. Nothing could ruin their day and so we made the most of it. We squeezed in a couple of shots in between the showers and then just rolled with the party. My favorite part of the reception was the big band. It was so classy! Thanks Colleen and J for such a fun day and for not getting the rain day blues!
